Program Description

STOP SA is an outpatient methadone maintenance clinic that also offers treatment of opioid dependence with both Methadone and Suboxone (Buprenorphine).  STOP SA provides treatment in a medical environment.  The comprehensive program provides substance abuse treatment, individual and family counseling, education, case management services and community based referrals.  

At STOP SA we work with our patients to address their individual needs. It is our goal to assist the patients to become socially rehabilitated and reintegrated into the San Antonio community and to achieve a lifestyle free of addiction to illicit substances.

The mission of STOP SA is to provide the highest quality medication assisted treatment to persons who are addicted to opiates and to do so in a supportive environment that respects the dignity and self-worth of those people we serve.

Our organizational vision and goal is to provide quality treatment through a holistic approach to service delivery and to be recognized as a premier provider of effective and efficient treatment services that result in optimal outcomes for those people we serve.

Our treatment philosophy is based on the understanding that opiate dependence is a primary disorder that can be treated successfully with medication, counseling and supportive services and that quality treatment helps people resume productive and meaningful lifestyles. 

Goals and Objectives

• STOP SA believes that addiction to heroin and other opiates (including prescribed pain medicines) should be managed as a disease (similar to hypertension or diabetes). Our mission is to help our clients overcome these addictions. We dispense methadone and prescribe buprenorphine to reduce the craving for opiates.

• We acknowledge that there are successful programs promoting detoxification and abstinence.  When these methods are not effective, medical intervention is required.

• We treat all clients with dignity and respect.  STOP SA is HIPAA compliant.

• Our goal is to improve your quality of life.  Our policy is to assist referring physicians in substance abuse care with consultative or dispensing services.
